Johnny Luetzlow '22 and Tara Jessen '22 were honored today by the High School Sports Association of San Diego as the LJCDS Scholar Athletes of the Year. 

Johnny, a two-year captain of the baseball team, has a 4.40 GPA. He was named the 2021 Coastal League Baseball Player of the Year, 1st-Team All-Coastal League and team MVP as a junior. He currently leads all of San Diego in stolen bases, has been named to the High Honor roll all four years, and has completed 231 hours of community service. He will play baseball at Santa Clara University. 

Tara has been a soccer team captain for all four years of high school and recorded a 4.53 GPA. She led the team in scoring for three years, was named 1st Team All-Coastal League, was a San Diego Union-Tribune Athlete of the Week, was named to the High Honor roll all four years, was a 3-year member of the National Arts Honor Society, and was named as the 2021-22 Coastal Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Tara will attend UC Davis in the fall.
