Dear Loyal Torrey Football Fans,
In a festive night of Homecoming and celebrating our seniors, we ended our regular season leaving it all on the field against a talented Classical Academy (6-4) team. After trailing 27-13 going into the 4th quarter, your Torreys (2-7) battled back with two touchdowns in the 4th to make it a 34-27 game. Unfortunately, we couldn’t capitalize on a couple of opportunities to tie the game and we ran out of time to finish the comeback. Phillip Gooding ’21 threw for 280 yards and hit Marcus Scott ’19 and Daniel Rosenberg ’21 for touchdowns while also running for a score. The defense was led by Zach Alligood ’20 and Nick Albert ’20 who had 12 and 9 tackles. While we didn’t come away with the victory, I couldn’t be more proud of the heart, grit, and effort the boys played with, led by the our 7 seniors playing their final game on Ings Field. Hopefully our alums who were in attendance enjoyed the game despite the outcome; it was great seeing so many former Torreys!

It’s been quite the year for our program this fall, as the boys have battled adversity all season. After losing on Friday night, our playoff fate was uncertain, and it was clear through our emotional post-game meeting that this team was not ready to end the season. Luckily, WE MADE IT IN! We earned the 12 seed in Division 4 and will travel to #5 Santana HS on Friday night at 7:00 pm. After we beat Santana, we will head to #4 Mar Vista. You can check out the complete playoff bracket HERE.
I am so proud of everything this group has accomplished so far this year. We’ve talked about “trusting the process” all year long, and the playoffs are where all of their hard work will pay off as we make a run to the championship. We plan to play our best football and leave everything on the field every day and extend the season as long as possible!
Thanks for all of your support this season!
One Tree, One Team, Torrey Pride!
